40 Days of Festivals.

It’s been 12 months of throwing the idea around but I can now officially say it’s locked in! This summer I’ve agreed to embark on a photographic journey of the summer festival scene in Japan… And so is born – “40 Days of Festivals”.

The idea was hatched by Cezar who asked if I’d be interested in documenting the journey of his pizza van as it toured the festival scene in Japan. Now 12 months later with almost no planning, a loose schedule and no real idea of what will happen in between, I’m packing up a truck load of photography and video equipment along with my tent and will set off for 40 Days of Festivals across Honshu and Hokkaido.

The trip commences mid July and will be churning out pizzas at Fuji Rock, Rock in Japan, Rising Sun Festival and Arabaki Rock Festival… as well as a few other smaller festivals in between (planning-in-progress means these will also be a surprise to me!).

My job… take photos, and shoot/produce a documentary of the van, Cezar and his team of 8 staff, their 24hr shifts and all the antics that will no doubt come of, no sleep, too much coffee, way to many pizzas and several festivals of well over 100,000 people. I’ll be at each and every event, inside and out, camera in hand and a whole lot of hope that we make it home without a camera in the pizza oven.

Stay tuned for more updates as they come and plenty of shots along the way…
