7 Shades of Concrete.

A lot of people might say that a lot of Japanese cities look the same. Most of them would be right. But there is something charming about the view from your hotel room that seems to encompass endless concrete that is just ever so slightly different shades… oh!… the gorgeous sameness.

But what a lot of people might miss are all the little gems that these cities hold. Japan is a bustling bunch of cities on a small string of islands, every one of these cities is uniquely different and it’s only on close examination, or perhaps by just sitting on a street corner for a few hours, that you begin to catch glimpses of each city’s individual personality.

I recently spent 4 days on a whirlwind of Shinkansen trains, local trains, semi-rapid local trains, rapid local trains and well, I guess just normal trains, and took in the wonders of Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto. Seen one temple – seen them all? Maybe, depends what you’re looking for I guess… cities are much the same… or are they?
